Tekelec (Nasdaq: TKLC) announced today security solutions on Sentinel to enable telecommunications carriers and service providers to detect network attacks and assist law enforcement via intelligence reporting applications.
Sentinel provides carriers with revenue assurance tools and ensures network visibility. The company also announced a solution to control access of signaling networks with its gateway screening application deployed on the EAGLE 5 Signaling Application System (SAS).
Network providers are challenged to develop tools and applications to prevent attacks on network infrastructure. Furthermore, law enforcement agencies are increasingly calling on service providers to supply information and prepare reports to help them identify, track, and prosecute suspected attackers.
Lori Craven, vice president and general manager of the Tekelec Network Systems Division, said, "Law enforcement and telecommunications carriers are working closely together to identify threats and share information to trace and track criminal activity. The best defense against a network attack is early detection. The Sentinel includes applications to alert operators to events that match the characteristics of an attack. It assists carriers in detecting service-denying attacks before they cripple a network. Sentinel also provides assistance to law enforcement through various network intelligence applications such as subscriber profiling, call trap and trace, call forwarding detection, and call pattern matching."
